There are credible allegations of corrupt dealings, financial mismanagement and a lack of responsibility for decisions in relation to the environment and the most vulnerable people in our communities. Questions put to Ministers by journalists or within Parliament House elicit pre-prepared talking points and evasive answers. I am extremely concerned about the lack of transparency and accountability. These matters of apparent dishonesty and corruption negatively impacts directly both on communities and the public’s trust and confidence in the government. The scandals include Sports Rorts and awarding other grants pre election, Murray Darling, robodebt, NDIS underfunded, Helloworld, Parakeelia, Great Barrier Reef grant, Minister for Manila, au pairs, poor response and planning for climate change and extreme bushfires, water management including the activities of Eastern Australia Irrigation, Aged Care, Banking Royal Commission, Indue card, NBN rollout, dubious travel claims and the reluctance to create the strongest possible Federal ICAC.
