Ms Hutley, a partner at Deloitte Access Economics, is concerned about the looming expiry date of the programs, linked to a “six-month” lifespan rather than specific need. “The economy is going to take a bit of a hit if this all comes off … a substantial hit, if this all comes off in one day,” she says. “We could potentially see a couple of percentage points come off GDP (gross domestic product) in that quarter if that is all unwound in one hit.”
