Source: Office 365: Why is Cortana Sending Me “Your Daily Briefing” Emails? | by Brad Groux | MSFT Engineer
Despite the assurances spouted by a Microsoft Engineer, receiving an email from an external source that quotes contents of my personal email sparks an ENORMOUS flare of security anxiety. This is very much not good.
I don’t want Cortana looking through my email, at all, ever. I don’t want Cortana running on my machine at all. I certainly don’t want email originating from @microsoft.com containing details of my emails. It is not even helpful. I never opted in, I certainly did not approve. I work on projects that contain private data, contain unpublished scientific results – nobody should be looking at this except the intended audience.
Sure, I unsubscribed, but is Cortana still looking through my emails? I have no way of knowing.
Nothing about this is good.
Time to move back to Mac OS … except I think the dubious Microsoft junk software might be running on the exchange server.
